kawin = menikah ????


omg, super funny!
was accompanying valine to get her passport done at the indo consulate...
my indo is not as bad as valine okay! as soon as valine opens her mouth and talk bahasa indonesia, anyone can tell that she cannot speak the language for nuts! hahaha
so, I watched her at the side talking to the man... and after her first sentence she continued talking to him in english. I think she did it subconsciously. haha!
okay then we left to fill up the form, and went back to him

I have no idea why the man suddenly asked us if we know wht's the diff between kawin and menikah.
I guess it was because of valine's status and we circle 'tidak kawin'(meaning: not married).
then valine and I stared at each other... after some time, we went... HMMMMMMM...
haha! okay, I thought both meant marriage...
but after the man said that there's a difference, we each some kinda idea in mind what both words might mean. just that we didnt say them out (save the embarassment)..

so we left the building....

me: eh! what do u think is the difference betwen both words ah?
valine: i think one means marrying into te family and the other means marry out to another family
me: oh yah! that makes sense too.. (I was thinking about the 2 chinese words-结婚 and 出嫁). but no ler.. I was thinking that one means engaged and the other means married in church that kind.
valine: oh yah! make sense also

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH!!!
we were clueless... until I got home and finally click on the internet explorer and check out www.kamus.net (indo online dictionationary lah! dont laugh...) and this is what they gave me:


kawin: inbreeding, marry
menikah: marriage, wedding

so what's the difference? one's a verb and one's a noun.

does this feet belong to a chicken or a duck? I was surprised when I saw this feet in the duck(supposedly i thought) porridge swei made. haha! just puzzled if this belongs to the duck or chicken... shouldnt ducks have webbed feet?? ah-ummmm....
